BigOh partnered with Square Yards to enhance the Square Connect app with a social feed that improved property discovery and engagement. Posts were ranked using a weighted score based on likes, comments, views, shares, and location relevance. Theta decay was implemented to gradually reduce the visibility of older posts unless they continued generating strong engagement. The platform lacked personalized recommendations, meaningful buyer-broker interactions, discussion forums, smart discovery features, social sharing, and mechanisms for following trusted brokers or identifying trending content. Remote buyers also found it difficult to understand local property sentiment and activity. To solve these challenges, we built a recommendation engine that surfaced relevant content based on user behavior and preferences. A real-time ranking system highlighted trending properties using engagement and recency signals. We introduced social features including likes, comments, follows, discussion threads, and content sharing. Brokers could post images, walkthroughs, and updates, to create a more engaging experience. Gamification elements such as badges and follower counts encouraged participation, while hyperlocal content helped remote buyers make informed decisions. The solution delivered a 40–55% increase in lead generation, enabled users to discover relevant properties 3x–5x faster, and improved broker visibility and engagement by 65%. It also increased inquiries, site visits, user retention, and overall platform engagement.
