A general contractor weighing a Procore renewal usually has two numbers in mind: what the platform will cost as the backlog grows, and how much time the team loses chasing records held by the owner, the architect and the subs. Both point to the same question. Is there a platform that prices by the people using it and lets every company on the job work from the same live data?

This comparison guide sets Procore beside five alternatives on the three criteria behind most switches: how each platform is priced, how it handles data shared between companies on the same project and how it approaches AI. Details come from vendor documentation reviewed in October 2026.

    Pricing models compared

Pricing is where these platforms differ most, and the model matters more than the headline rate.

Volume-based: Procore. Procore sets annual product fees from the products you select and your Annual Construction Volume, with unlimited users. Win larger jobs and the fee rises, even if headcount stays flat. AI is a separate Digital Coworker package: Starter is a flat fee on a six-month term covering up to three projects, while Pro and Enterprise run 12-month terms on credits. Every question, agent task and background sync draws from the pool, and Procore charges 3 credits per gigabyte of stored project data per day.

Per user: INGENIOUS.BUILD, PMWeb and Autodesk Construction Cloud. Cost tracks the people who use the platform, not the value of the work. INGENIOUS.BUILD invites outside collaborators free and charges no AI credits, so the price holds as usage grows. PMWeb is sold per user as SaaS or a purchased license. Autodesk prices Autodesk Build per user on an unlimited-sheets plan, or quotes a subscription for unlimited projects and users, with other modules licensed separately.

Resource-based: Acumatica Construction Edition. Acumatica includes unlimited users and prices by edition, licensed applications and transaction volume, with quotes coming through its partners.

Quote-based subscription: Oracle Primavera Cloud. Oracle prices Primavera Cloud as a subscription, so request a proposal for the modules you need.

    Sharing data across project companies

On a typical job, the owner, GC, architect, engineers and vendors each hold part of the project record. How a platform handles that split decides how much time teams spend exporting, uploading and reconciling.

Procore. Procore AI works within a single company's Procore account, so records held by the owner, architect or vendors reach it only once someone brings them into that account.

INGENIOUS.BUILD. On INGENIOUS.BUILD, each company keeps its own workspace, and the workspaces connect on the project. Whatever a partner shares, from RFIs to change orders, arrives live and structured with no uploads, and the AI reads it within each user's role, workspace and record-level permissions.

Oracle Primavera Cloud. Owners and delivery teams share planning, scheduling, resources and risk, with a central risk register every participant can use.

Acumatica Construction Edition. Built as an ERP for your own company. Unlimited users let field staff and approvers log in without seat fees, but confirm how partner companies will take part.

PMWeb. Centers on owner-led workflows across portfolio, program and project, with dashboards that roll up status for the owner's team.

Autodesk Construction Cloud. Keeps plans, RFIs and submittals together in Autodesk Build. Confirm how partner companies outside your account will reach shared records.

    AI and assistant access

Procore. Procore AI arrived as Digital Coworker packages on July 23, 2026: Starter with five agents, Pro with 20 and Enterprise with 25+ plus Agent Studio for custom agents. Procore AI can call tools on other MCP servers, but Procore does not offer an MCP server that a team's own assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, can connect to.

INGENIOUS.BUILD. Built-in AI comes with every plan for every user, including collaborators invited free. It reads invoices, contracts and drawings, imports Excel budgets and summarizes email. In Pro, a native MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or any MCP-compatible assistant read, write and act on the project data shared with you, connected through OAuth 2.0. An Admin chooses which account types can use it, and there are no credits or per-use metering.

The other alternatives. The documentation reviewed for Oracle Primavera Cloud, Acumatica, PMWeb and Autodesk Construction Cloud focused on core project and financial features. Ask each vendor to demonstrate its current AI options and explain how they are billed.

    Which platform fits which team

Multi-company projects that want predictable pricing: INGENIOUS.BUILD, for per-user pricing with free collaborators, live shared data and AI without credits.

Schedule-led owners and contractors: Oracle Primavera Cloud, which ties the CPM schedule to field task detail and supports resource and cost loading.

Contractors who want accounting and job costing together: Acumatica Construction Edition, with job costing, AIA billing, retainage, change orders and subcontract compliance on an ERP core.

Owner organizations running capital portfolios: PMWeb, with cost, procurement and estimating modules, business intelligence dashboards and multilingual, multi-currency support.

Teams built around Autodesk design tools: Autodesk Construction Cloud, where every Autodesk Build subscription includes all features, Autodesk Docs and the mobile app.

    Getting like-for-like quotes

Send every vendor the same brief: headcount, outside participants, project plan, next year's construction volume, document volume, integrations and the AI tasks you expect to run. Ask each one to state its term length and assumptions in writing, so a six-month AI pilot is never compared with a full year of production use.

The pricing model matters as much as the headline rate. A per-user price stays predictable as volume grows; a volume-based fee rises with your backlog; credit-based AI adds a usage line that moves with stored data and activity. If none of the shortlisted platforms covers a workflow you need, weigh the trade-offs of build vs. buy software before committing to custom development.

Finally, test on a live project. Have the owner, GC and architect each share an RFI and a change order, ask the AI to summarize them, then revoke one user and confirm their access disappears.

    Final take

If your reasons for leaving Procore are a fee that climbs with construction volume and AI that cannot see your partners' records, INGENIOUS.BUILD is the alternative to evaluate first. It prices per user with free collaborators, connects every company on the project to live shared data and includes AI for every user without credits.

Oracle Primavera Cloud suits schedule-led teams, Acumatica Construction Edition fits contractors who want ERP and job costing together, PMWeb serves owners managing capital portfolios and Autodesk Construction Cloud makes sense for teams already working in Autodesk design tools.
