Indian Gas Exchange Ltd. (IGX), India's first automated national gas exchange, partnered with BigOh to modernize its digital infrastructure through a complete website revamp and the development of a custom Trading Work Station (TWS). The objective was to build a scalable in-house trading platform capable of supporting Spot and Auction-based trading while meeting regulatory requirements set by PNGRB. Prior to the transformation, IGX relied on a third-party exchange platform operating on the FIX protocol and aligned to EST time zones, creating operational inefficiencies and limiting flexibility. The existing system lacked support for third-party integrations, real-time market updates, and platform-level customizations required to support evolving business and regulatory needs. BigOh developed a proprietary exchange engine tailored to IGX's trading workflows, enabling full ownership and control of the trading infrastructure. The new platform supported seamless trade management, real-time order and market updates, faster issue resolution, and direct integration with external partners for post-trade automation. With a dedicated India-based support team, IGX gained the ability to implement customizations, regulatory updates, and market-time requests quickly and efficiently. The platform successfully migrated existing data with zero downtime and seamlessly handled daily trading volumes of up to 1.6 lakh MMBTU. The solution improved operational flexibility, enabled all trader-requested customizations, enhanced reliability, and provided a strong foundation for future growth.
